UCF Commit Preston Hall Discusses Decision, Goals, and Big 12 Future

From Houston to UCF: The Journey of UCF Commit Preston Hall

UCF Commit Preston Hall is preparing to take his game from Texas high school football to the Big 12 stage in Orlando. The Houston-area standout recently committed to the University of Central Florida, sharing how his upbringing, family ties, and personal drive have shaped his path to college football.

Growing up in the suburbs of Houston, Hall enjoyed an active lifestyle with plenty of opportunities to compete in multiple sports. While basketball was his first passion, football ultimately became his focus. Coming from a sports-oriented family, Hall’s father, a former NFL running back and Texas Longhorns Rose Bowl champion, and his brother, a linebacker at UTSA, influenced his decision to commit fully to football.

Training, Discipline, and Early Enrollment

Daily preparation plays a central role in Hall’s success. His training routine includes morning lifts, field work, film study, and balanced nutrition, all with the goal of reaching the same professional heights his father achieved. His commitment extends beyond the field, as he is set to graduate early and enroll at UCF in December to participate in spring football.

Special teams, Hall says, will be his first proving ground. He believes that earning his stripes in this area is key to building a role in the defense. That same mentality carried into his recruitment, where relationships proved decisive. Meetings with linebacker coach “Coach D” highlighted the program’s ability to develop players, including those who transitioned from safety—Hall’s original position—to linebacker.

Official Visit Seals the Deal for UCF Commit Preston Hall

Hall’s official visit to UCF on June 20 left a lasting impression. After a photo shoot, facility tours, and in-depth conversations with the coaching staff, he committed just two days later. Scott Frost’s knowledge of his film and recognition of his potential sealed the decision.

Versatility is a hallmark of Hall’s game. At his high school, he plays both outside linebacker and edge in a 3-3-5 defense, a skill set that could see him fill multiple roles for the Knights. His junior season numbers—12 tackles for loss, four sacks, and a forced fumble—underscore his disruptive presence.

Big Goals for Senior Season

For his senior season, Hall has set ambitious goals: winning a state championship in Texas 6A, earning a Houston Touchdown Club nomination, and continuing to rise in national recruiting rankings. With a high-powered roster boasting 24 Division I prospects, his team has the talent to contend for the title.

Hall’s choice of UCF came down to fit and opportunity. The program felt like home, and the vision shared by the staff aligned with his own aspirations. His relationship with coaches, emphasis on team chemistry, and readiness to contribute immediately set him apart as a recruit.

Focused on Football First

When it comes to NIL, Hall’s focus remains firmly on football. He views financial opportunities as a natural byproduct of performance, echoing the mindset of other recruits who prioritize development and winning over early monetary gain.

As UCF Commit Preston Hall prepares for the transition to college football, his mix of athletic talent, disciplined preparation, and team-first mentality suggests he will be a valuable addition to the Knights’ roster and culture.
